Faked Deaths

Faked deaths, also known as pseudocide or “fake your own death,” is the act of pretending to be dead in order to disappear from society. This can be done for various reasons, such as to escape debt or legal trouble, to start a new life, or even as a prank.

Faking one’s own death is a serious crime and is illegal in most countries. In some cases, it can result in criminal charges such as fraud or perjury. Additionally, the act of faking one’s own death often causes emotional distress to the person’s loved ones, who may spend years searching for their missing relative.

Despite the potential consequences, there have been many cases of faked deaths throughout history. Some notable examples include the disappearance of British politician John Stonehouse in the 1970s and the more recent case of American reality TV star Byron Lichtenberg, who faked his own death in 2013.
